SCE Fun!
Another fun week at SCE.....Kindergarten friends explored different ways to combine green and red apples in a box of five. First Grade students, after listening to the story of Grandma's Necklaces, investigated what numbers of blue and green beads were needed to make necklaces like the ones in the story. They also shared their findings; highlighting the patterns in the numbers. Second Grade students continued taking inventory: packing items in sets of five rather than ten. We discussed how the number of ten-packs could be used to figure out the number of five-packs. Third Grade students used multiplication with the Ratio Table to determine the cost of a 24lb turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Fourth Graders completed an Engineering task/competition using 100 index cards and 24 inches of tape to create/build the tallest free standing tower(see pics below)!! Fifth Grade finished "The Teacher's Lounge" unit and completed an Engineering competition to see who could build the tallest structure out of a limited number of toothpicks and marshmallows(pics below).....so much FUN!!!
